Expect nothing less than a wild journey through media and formats because I have no concept where this is going.
The Journal Frame is a monthly newsletter about photography with the idea of opening up the process and talking about insights, failures, ideas, and inspiration to connect and bring value to others.
My name is Marvin and I’m a photographer based in Offenbach, Germany. I work in the range from portrait to reportage, somewhere between politics, culture, and business.
Lately, I feel like talking about things I see, hear, or experience – music, an inspiring picture, or the latest camera settings. Everything is possible. I will keep it open and hope to find my way in the making of this journal, that I’d like to share with you.
This project is inspired by Ramon Haindl and his Substack Notes from the Lab:
Ultimately documenting the life long pursuit to keep the joy and curiosity in the work that I'm doing and hopefully provide you with some value for your own work.
It is obvious to me that togetherness is better than lonely competition. That is why I am looking for an exchange of experiences and helping each other by showing my process and connecting with you to discuss and learn.
I am thinking of many different things for this journal. To give you an idea, here are some possible topics for upcoming issues:
Behind the Scenes of projects
Screen recordings of editing sessions
Talking about one specific image
Favorite music for shooting and editing
Inspiring places to shoot at
And of course the good old stuff like What's in my bag
This newsletter will be irregularly published, but my goal is to publish at least once a month. I would love to see you following along. Don’t hesitate to contact me or follow The Journal Frame on Substack!
See you soon ☕️
Marvin
